and yeh its pretty easy for a beginner, just dont play those powerchords barre, bad habit.

good luck and post with any more questions
what do you mean dont play them barre?

anyway, that tab is somewhat accurate, but if you are looking for a "DMBTabs quality" tab, just let me know and i'll put something together
i.e. with an A powerchord, dont play it with your index on 5 and your ring barring both 7's. play it with your ring and pinky.

and btdubs, tune with the SEVENTH fret for drop d... otherwise you're gonna pop your e and be mad at sfmartins.
Thanks for the correction! I hope it was on time! :)

this is a really cool song. to learn cause it is easy to sing to and sounds good by yourself, at a party, or wherever.

if you want more recomendations for some good drop D songs to play while you are learning this one let us know.

cheers.
Im not very familiar with left hand muting, or right hand for that matter...should the heel of your right hand be on the strings or what?

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": "I once saw this in a movie, it was about a bus that had to keep it's "speed" above 50, and if it's "speed" dropped, it would explode...I think it was called "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down"!

if you find the acoustic version of the song, it's a bit easier to play.

ok this clip is pretty good of him playing the everlong song...now my questions...

1. in the intro around the 17, 18 second point mark...i know he is hitting the 5th and 6th string of the 9th fret and the 4th of the 11th but is he also placing his pinky somewhere on the third string cus i think i can most definately hear a tenor note....

2. In the "And I wonder part..." what fingers are where...I was taught to start off with your index on the on the 5th string of the 4th fret and ur ring finger on the 3rd string of the 6th fret...but again I see his pinky come up and lay on a string...??

3. "If anything could ever feel this real forever..." what is he playing...where are his fingers...totally lost on this part...

thats it....for now...haha hope you guys can help me...thanks!!

you could throw in your pinky on the 11th fret of the G string (like on the normal version) to make it sound like 2 guitars

Code: Select all

e-----------
b-----------
g--9---11--9
d--11--11--11
a--9---9---9
d--0---------
i place my index finger on the 9th fret of the A string, ring on 11th d string ...middle on 9th fret on the G string...and my pinky for the 11th fret on the G...

then you use your index (9th fret on the D,still fretting on the A) or your thumb for the bass ...ala john mayer

i play it like that because it hurts my girly fingers to do it the "easier" way

some people use their pinky instead of their ring finger...it helps them stretch

lets say you were playing that way with your ring finger...and the next note you had to place your index on the 3rd fret of the 5th string

it's easier to do it with your pinky on the 6th fret rather than your ring finger
