Cello Tabs - Have Some

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Cello Tabs - Have Some

Unread post by ColinMBurns » Wed Nov 12, 2003 7:01 pm

I have been playing the cello for some time now, and recently (due to a room mate that is obsessed with Dave) started picking up learning some Dave songs -- for instance, Baby, Dodo, Gravedigger, The Stone, Seek Up, The Maker, Crash, Stay or Leave -- just to name a few we have played around with. But, here inlies the problem --

Can't think of a good way to put that into a tab or to translate into tab. Can tell you the notes, easy enough, but need a good way to get that in bass clef. Is there a program out there than can do that for me? For free, of course.

Want to share this with y'all, get this out there, and see if anyone else has more ideas on the cello parts to some of Dave's songs. There are plenty of cello parts out there in his songs, all bad ass.

Anyone want to contribute, throw me a link, hook me up, that'd be great.

Oh, and I figured out "Too High" off his solo project, completely, and could post that a.s.a.p. if I had some way to get it into Bass Clef on the 'net.

I can put the notes in bass clef on paper in front of me, I have the musical theory background to get that much, but I don't have a program on my comptuer that does that. Therein lies the problem. Is there a program that I can click where it would be on the bass clef, and it would put an 1/8th note there, a rest beat, etc. ??? Follow?

I'd love to have Pig -- If you could write it out and send it to me or post it here, that'd be awesome. Much appreciated, from one cellist to the next.

try and look for Power Tab Editor 1.7

it says tab, but it does standard music notation as well

I am working with Power Tab 1.7, or whatever that program is that you told me to download, but I can't get it to tab down to the C string on a cello. I am working on the cello intro to The Stone that starts on the low first finger D on the C string of a cello. Way below the range of an acoustic guitar. Any ideas?

I'll try to explain this a little better -- I haven't really played around with the program too much -- schools busy at the moment.

But, here's what I have -- at the top of the work area is a bass clef, and below it is the guitar tab. When I insert a fret to be played on a designated string on the guitar tab, it inserts a corresponding note on the bass clef. Though, the low E on an acoustic guitar is an octive above a E on the low C string of a cello. If you play cello, which you do, you'd follow. Is there a way I can NOT have to deal with guitar tab and just play around with the bass clef? I don't want to tab this in guitar, just cello.

i haven't used the program that much either, just try and find out how to insert the notes with just the staff

i just wish they would make a program that had JUST musical notation, i fucking hate dealing with tab...
