Dusting off an old DMB Quote...

"This is a great band, you know. [Before These] Crowded Streets might be one of the best albums, so I'm saying, 'What am I gonna do now with that, to evolve that?'"
~Mark Batson.

I won't even answer that.....

if by evolve he meant change their sound and make a sub-par(shit) album, then he succeeded. "Lillywhite, Lillywhite, Lillywhite!"

  Good god, I remember that. They really know what to say to get us hardcore fans riled up and excited. Stand Up couldn't be more of a regression from BTCS.

Those epic songs that ventured into and past the 6 minute range, we will cut that in half and according to my calculations that will at least double the quality.

We can take those songs that were played and played on the previous tour that were road tested much the same way as some of the songs on BTCS and we will do completely away with those except 1 and put that on a bonus disc.

anyone remember the Rolling Stone interview with Dave after Some Devil came out? Dave was saying how the band made their best album 5 years ago (btcs), and how the band realized Carter was their greatest assett and wanted to focus the new album around him. Oh i was so giddy

And they did exactly that, they went right around carter so to speak.

I'm so pissed the '04 songs got cut/mutilated. I listened to the stand up companion disc in the car today. Sugar Will is SO AWESOME in such subtle ways. And that version of Hello Again kicks some major ass. I'd like to see Hello Again come back at Randall's Island this weekend.

It's amazing what the band can come up with on their own, without a producer. I think road testing is becoming slightly unreliable, what with the way the crowds are these days. Crazy Easy and Sugar Will are very unique and subtle songs, and I wouldn't expect fans to go crazy for them at a show the first time hearing them. I know I didn't, let alone a casual fan. They had a perfect single with Joy Ride, I don't know why they had to "start fresh".... damnit dave.

I'm bummed that Hello Again, Joy Ride, Crazy Easy, Good Good Time, and Sugar Will will never be on an album together. And I hate how overproduced Hello Again is on SU.

2004=2000. They really blew it both those years. They had a great batch of songs that they scrapped for trash. I can't believe they did this to us twice.

I agree completely. I'll admit that when SU first came out, I was psyched and I liked the songs. But I'm pretty sure that was just the hype of it being a new DMB album. SU wore on me pretty quickly.

As for the current year. Its really promising with what songs I've heard them do. Kill the King, Break Free, Idea of You, etc. I honestly think that if they end up scrapping those songs, I'm gonna lose faith in the band. Sad, but probably true.
