every other year i can remember they broke the curfew and paid the fine. there were some highlights i guess. the warren jimi thing was cool, idea of you is cool as shit live. i have a pretty good story i can type up tomorrow. meh...from now on if dmb fits my schedule i will go, not getting my hopes up anymore, they obviously could give a shit less about cincy.

let me give you all an example of the crowd, they were about two minutes into seek up and the slut next to me who spent the rest of the night grinding on her boyfriend like we were at a fucking dance club asks me, hey this song is kind of cool what is it called?

me: seek up
twat stain: oh sweet is it new?
me:

this went on through the night, with her asking the names of the songs excluding crash and wayg

idea of you is a pretty good song and thats pretty much how I feel about DMB now as well. I'm not going to go out of my way to see them anymore and I'm never going to go to a show unless I have inside seats, the lawn is out of control.

I went to one dmb show in '02, and that's probably it. It's not like they're coming to my town, so, maybe, sometime, I'll drive to see them, but I'm pretty much totally done unless this new album is perfect.

I also know probably a half dozen other people who went to this show, can't wait to hear their reviews, they gave me shit for being apprehensive to go. Wow.

a shortened show last night for cincinnati due to the extreme heat there last night. luckily the band was able to last as long as they did and give a quality show to those in attendance.....

alright i was a little pissed last night, the everyday encore is unacceptable.

overall the show wasnt completely horrible. there was a lot of energy, but the song selection still has no excuse. the only reason i went this year was because of the killer sets that had been played. in hindsight i realize the heat could have played a huge part, but i was there from midset government mule all of the way through the band. granted, i wasnt playing an instrument and going nuts on stage.

anyway on to the review

seek up - amazing, so glad to hear it as an opener, thoroughly enoyed this one and i thought we were off to a great start.

crash - ive heard it a thousand times, but it is almost like the band is obligated to play it for the fans that know just that song. not a bad version it really is a beautiful song, i just dont really care to hear it live anymore.

hunger - this surprised me a great deal. i was not a huge fan of this song on stand up, but last night it fucking rocked. got the crowd really going, i was surprised, and i wouldnt mind hearing it if i ever go to a dmb show again.

idea of you - really enjoyable loved hearing it live, it has plenty of possibility to be a good song, just depends what happens with it in the studio hopefully it doesnt get murdered.

american baby - not a fan of this song, didnt enjoy it live, wished they wouldnt have played it.

nancies - always a treat to hear live, solid version, the best part about hearing nancies is that there is a good chance of hearing...

warehouse - never gets old i love hearing this song live, good energy, nice jam, one of the best feelings at a dave show has to be hearing the opening chords to this after nancies shuts down.

wayg - ...

bayou - not a fan of this song, robert randolph couldnt/can't save this song and neither could/can jesus christ, buddha, mohammed, etc... at least in my eyes, this song did absolutely nothing for me live, same as it was on the album. some of you might be saying but teh energy!!!1!1!!!; this song sucks i could care less if i never hear it again.

can't stop - i dont even know what the fuck this song is suppose to be. is it an elongated intro to crush?? is it some piece of shit song that has nothing else to it?? i dont care for this one, waste of time and waste of a space for another song.

SMTS -> Too Much - always love this, SMTS was sweet, ASTB was on fire like usual, i absolutely love hearing it live. Too Much was good, but i am still not a fan of the new breakdown, it just seems out of place to me/doesnt fit very well, but that might be due to the fact ive heard Too Much 10,000 times and still am not use to the new jam. overall i enjoyed this combo.

jimi thing - this was fucking cool, when warren came out i called #41 since they had played it the previous show. jimi wasnt a bad surprise and honestly if they were going to play jimi at a show i was at it is great they had a guest. i have gone on record as being burned out on this song, so having warren there to spice it up was definitely cool. warren owns that is all there is to it.

stay - fitting for the night, i like hearing this one live. good song and the lyrics fit well for the 95 degree heat.

and for the encore...

everyday - yep thats it. thought they might play this and then go into something else, ants, two step, abi intro but nope just everyday. this completely let me down. i enjoy the song a lot more than i use to, but this is by no means a closer. i could give the band a pass on the heat. but they could have just as easily come out and ripped a JTR or DIDO that would have lasted 5-6 minutes and walked off of the stage and everyone would have walked away much happier.

I think that your review proves that even with a "shitty set list," DMB still always puts on a great show.

it was so humid too, august in cincinnati is unbearable when it is in the 90's, i drank probably 10-12 beers and didnt piss the whole show, thats how dehydrated i was.
