I just find it hard to believe that a dedicated pci card wouldn't improve the quality of what you're working with. Maybe it's just necessary to handle all the extra data that the 001 is capable of handling...

It *shouldn't* but I can't guarantee it. The music guy who explained all this stuff to me said that the quality is the same with both, and that the usb does not degrade/slow down the mbox at all. Don't know, though, can't debate it. Possibly, but you are asking for alot...this may be the best you can do. It's a brand new system, and it brags itself on the "6 tracks for a band" thing...
