The Maker

Unread post by Davy28 » Mon Nov 10, 2003 5:20 pm

Who originally wrote the maker? I'm really starting to be obsessed with that song. The electric guitar work is incendiary.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Yeah, he's from Montreal. My wife has seen him live and says he's pretty good. He wrote a lot of stuff for U2 for whatever album came after the Joshua Tree. He's really not even that big up here in Canada.

Actually he produced both "The Unforgettable Fire" and "The Joshua Tree."

I just prefer the Red Rocks version of LIOG a little better, because I love the sound of the extended sax solo. I don't like the LIOG/LiC solo as much as others on that album, such as Last Stop and Jimi Thing.

The Maker is a most excellent song. One of my main struggles in life are layed out in that song.
I'm gonna find the Daniel Lanios version right now, since i've never heard it

LIOG's jam on LiC is almost too long for me...i mean, i appreciate the solos... and stuff, i dunno, i perfer the shorter jam on rr.

i still don't skip the song when i listen to the cd though...
