Who's in charge?
Ive listened to a few Everyday tunes lately, and thought "hey, there not to bad". But then i remeber a lot of people saying, firstly they didnt like them, and secondly the BAND didnt like them. Howver, they still recorded the album and still play them on tour.
So my question is, who's in charge? I'd assume Dave, but only because it sounds like its his band. But i know they all have an equal say, or at leat Dave, Carter and Stefan.
Anyone have any further info?

Its true that alot of people don't like alot of the songs on Everyday, and a few of the songs are disliked by the band a bit as well.
The only one I know that they like, at least Dave and Carter, is When The World Ends. It recall an interview I read somewhere that Dave mentioned they really liked that song. But my guess would be that when they were playing them more frequently, is was simply due to the songs still being rather new. I think now, they mostly only play the ones they like. Not to mention, the songs have evolved a little bit.

when Dave came to England, he said they were just about to release WTWE but then 9/11 happened. Which indicated they liked it. But Dave wrote eveything on "everyday" right? but if they rest of the band werent happy, why didnt they say "hey no, this sucks, we arent releasing this"?

but still, is Dave the main influence?

I remember reading somewhere that if you listen to Everyday in the context of DMB albums, it's not that great. But if you listen to it in the context of a pop album, its pretty good.
I tried listening to it, trying to forget that I was listening to DMB, and I liked alot of them. I really like If I Had It All.

Dave has written most of the songs. He did pretty much everything before Stand UP. I think there are exceptions like Last Stop (which Stephan helped with) and a few others. There's also some the whole band did before Stand Up like #41. I don't think anyone is really in charge though.

I think its Carter who runs the show these days. I think before the LWS Dave had complete control, but I believe during those sessions Carter gave Dave an ultimatum that either he goes or Lillywhite goes and Dave chose to send Lillywhite packing. And now from that Carter has a lot more say in what direction the band takes because Dave knows that the band wouldn't be the same without him.

Thats an interesting theory...any particular reason why you think that?Nitro1515 wrote:I think its Carter who runs the show these days.
