Yep. And, as anyone who has played with an Ebow knows, fast picking is MUUUUCH easier when you don't have to hyper pick 32nd notes. Your fretting hand (well, mine at least) is much faster than your picking hand.

He more then makes up for the fact that he uses frets by wearing those sick ass leather pants. Every thirteen year old should have a pair......

just because the violin is heavily distorted and he jumps around a bunch, I wouldnt call that amazing, or putting boyd to shame.

And why does "With frets" have an "!" wouldnt that be easier to play then a non fretted violin, which Boyd plays.
and every other respectable violinst plays as well.

i have a friend who plays violin, and he cringes at the thought of a violin with frets.

i cant tell but it looks like that thing he's playing (im not going to call it a violin) has 6 strings. Wouldnt playing any song be easier with a bow. WIth the frets all he has to do is play the song with his fretting hand. He doesnt even have to play with his picking hand. It seems to me alot of the precision needed to play a song like that on guitar wouldnt be needed if you didnt even have to pick the strings. There are songs for the violin that showcase talent but what he did was crap. He did not put Boyd to shame all he did was show me how much better of a violinist boyd is than this kid. I dont see what the big deal is with this he cheated.

If you pause it on one of the bridge close ups, you can see that there are (almost certainly) more than 4 strings. weird.

EDIT: like right here. obviously the video is low quality, but there are obviously more than 4 strings. loser

that's really lame actually. because of the frets, and the string issue. when you have that many strings it's easier to transfer, especially when you have frets. seriously that is actually...iono.

I've got alot of friends that can play violin, that can play just about anything you ask them. Granted, their all 16-18, and even three extra years is enough to make a large difference. But the biggest reason I say that, is there is just something about that kid, that makes me want to hurt him. Maybe its cause he was trying to act too much like a rock-star with a violin... but I'm thinking it was more the leather pants.
