Music Video...Weird...Good

Unread post by Yakko » Mon Jul 17, 2006 2:04 am

One of Dave's most awesome songs as far as i'm concerned but...the video.

Here it is,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LET5qYCq ... 20matthews

But is it just me or is he not playing his JJ Baritone? He's playing his Martin and I don't really think it is a Baritone.

Am I a jerk for picking apart these videos?

The Space Between was my wedding song. I really love that song. That is kind funny that he is playing a martin, since i don't believe i've ever seen him play a martin baritone.
Your not going to get much love off this song, everyone seems to hate it and everyday as well. We've got some pretty picky dmb fans round' here.

I don't think the guy's completely off here... I'm no expert, and I didn't search this out, but I seem to remember Dave playing a Taylor Acoustic Baritone for The Space Between at a solo show at a Virgin Record Store in England. I remember it because he still used the A and G chord formations, but he still sang it the same...

It's a standard guitar just used for the video because it was going to be rained on, and it's not tuned to baritone settings. Then it was signed and put on an online contest.

SOunds about right.

What this video also tells us dear friends is that dave writes his songs in normal tuning (since he is playing the same in the video that appears in this page), and then makes (or made in this case) the equivalent for the baritone.

I don't know if this is correct, i'm just taking a WILD guess (aren't I a loco? couldn't get any wilder than this eh?).

i think he wrote it on the jerry jones (glen ballad lent him one for the album, thus begining his love afair with them)

but played it in accoustic for the video as it suites his public immage

I think its funny dave plays it Emajor to Dmajor and then A for the chorus.

Anyways. its a good song that unfortunately got overplayed which wrecked it for people. Still I dont think that detracts from its simple beauty and its proof that great songs can be simple three chord progressions.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Amen too.

By the way, I'm also sure, then, that dave is concious (sp!?!?) of what he writes for the baritone in "normal" tuning.
