well, it depends. You are obviously a more than competent guitarist, so do you want learn more songs, or become more serious about guitar? if the first, I'd say that JJ is a step backwards. John Mayer is a giant step forward. If you want to become serious, I can recommend 9247 books for you, and I'd PM gumbomadness and Cor, because they can really help you out.

well here's a good john mayer site for starters http://www3.sympatico.ca/g403z/
I'd just pick any song you like. FYI, Neon is regarded as John Mayer's most formidable (not necessarily hardest) song.
as far as books, tell me what you're interested in, specific styles, sight reading, getting better fretboard knowledge, etc. gumbomadness and Cor are probably the most knowledgable people on these boards when it comes to music, and they're both very cool and willing to help out.

Awesome thanks. I learned neon a couple of months ago. It took me a couple weeks. I can still play it pretty well. i dont think its tougher than any of daves stuff. ik why georgia, and no such thing. ill try those other songs then. so john is better than dave at guitar? or is it just his different strumming and fingering style. well i need to become alot more aquainted with the fretboard and stuff. I played the violin for 12 years, so i know notes and stuff. im glad im not in the dark. but i dont know the fretboard well yet, and im still not familiar with most modes. im going to study modes on my own. but do u have any recommendations for fretboard learning?

I'll PM you an awesome fretboard thing tomorrow. As far as modes, IMHO there are more important things like sight reading and interval shapes to work on. Obviously, learning any guitar-applied music theory will only make you better, but I just don't view modes as that important compared to other stuff. That's good you already know Neon, it's one of my favorite songs to playCaleb48kb wrote:Awesome thanks. I learned neon a couple of months ago. It took me a couple weeks. This book is a real ball-buster, but it's the best thing I've ever done: "Modern Method for Guitar" by William Leavitt...there are 3 volumes.Caleb48kb wrote:Awesome thanks so much man.
