i'm pretty sure it was a one time thing and it was only done becuase the shows were at Fenway and there is a strong tie between that song and fenway/the red sox.
It wasn't a great cover, but it sounded like it was fun for the crowd and really that's all that matters.

rumor has it that Dave liked covering it so much they're planning to keep it through the tour. And afterwards, bring it in to the studio, with Neil on backing vocals.

listening to it now....it seems really strange for DMB to cover. but i'm getting some pretty good memories from last night. haha, it was so great to be there live, probobly the most crowd involvement i've ever seen at a DMB show.

I'm a tiny bit lost because I'm not a redsox fan, or maybe because i'm just straight fucking dense, but...
Why is this song special to Fenway and the Red Sox?
And what's the significance of playing it the 8th song?
Just curious

They play the song on the PA during either the 7th inning stretch or during the 8th inning (someone help me out) and the whole place sings along.

So do people think its a shitty cover? Or do they think it was a bad song to cover? There's a huge difference. The perrformance itself was perfect. Dave's voice is great, everything is spot on.
If you don't like the song thats one thing. But this performance is far, far, far from sucking on any level.

im suprised theres such a big deal made out of it? I thought it was just some fun for this particular event? I didnt think the Band nor the fans were taking it that seriously?
I enjoyed listening to it though, put a smile on my face.

I don't see what the problem is. This was a fun song for a specific venue. Even more, my buddy told me the crowd loved it.

there was a rumor that #41 would be debuted and it would be an "epic" show. hopefully that rumor is also false. thanks for uploading the song, sounded weird to hear dave signing that low, but i'm sure it was a fun atmosphere.
