strumming notes on some songs
ive been playing for just a bit over a year now, completely self taught, and i can play most everything at atleast a decent level, but one thing continues to get at me, songs like the stone and loving wings where he does this rapid strumming over single notes, i just cant seem to get my wrist to move in the motion, ive been practicing at it for a few months now, any suggestions?

okay.....well you just have to take your pick (or your fingers if you can do that) and keep your arm planted. just move your wrist up and down quickly. its incredibly hard to explain i'm noticing....so sorry if i make no sense at all. i'm sure someone else can hellp out.....

Um, the stone has very few muted notes in it. The only muted ones are around the note dave is playing. The muting sound is from a not so strict picking style for the song. The song is mainly down picked. There is the one part on the D where he does that alternate pikcing, which he does to play the notes faster, that's the main point of alternate picking.
Also, incase you don't know what alternate picking is, it's when you pick down, and then immediately pick up, and on stone, you do it a few times. Other wise, it really is down picking. Again, the mutes are from an unintentional less strict picking. I will put a * next to the numbers on JKanter's tab right here where the atlternate picking is.
I have seen he plays it more agressivly, but not usualy, where he does a more less strict picking. Anyways, it's basicly a down picking song with alternate picking, and the picking is a less strict picking.
If you need any help on this song, IM me or such, I have this song down

sattellite is the infamous equally timed downstrokes
I think theres a lot more subtlety than that when playing the stone imo. Alternate pick if your not doing so already and learn how to mute with both frettin and pickin hands.
