Hey fellas (and girls,women)

Got a question about the song So Much To Say, the tab tells me that after the first slide from 3rd to 5th fret on the bass string he hits the lowest three notes on the fifth fret, I just see him doing something a lil different from that on vids. Even they guy who posted the tab (on this site) inlcuding a vid seems to not be playing all three notes on the fifth fret.

I'm confused by this and can not get myself to play the song to my likings, any help ?

I'm not sure what you mean as to how it looks, how it sounds is exactly that. Are you using your pinky for those 3 notes? I slide with my middle finger then lay it flat on the 5th fret to catch those bottom three strings. it seems easier.

Yah my bad for posting it here, but your saying you do hit those three notes ? Ok, so do it with my pinky ?, all three of em, that sounds difficult but I will give it a go soon as I get my guitar back from the shop.

I do it exactly how you say until now (with the middlefinger which also does the slide), does Dave use his pinky ?

Dave uses his pinky, which to me seems pointless, but alot of things he does are unneccesary. But yes, i slide then hit the bottom three notes with the middle finger, then do the next slide with the index

I slide 3 to 5 on the e string with my middle finger, then hit the b and e strings 5th fret with my pinky and ring finger. Then slide 4 to 6 on the G string with my index finger.

Me too, my pinky isnt strong enough. i also dont do barre chords with my pinky

It makes it more graceful with your pinky, it kinda keeps me in time I guess.

Me too, my pinky isnt strong enough. i also dont do barre chords with my pinky

If you can get it strong enough, it's beneficial, you hand doesn't need to stretch as much while barring with the pinky as opposed to the ring.

Unfortunately I have the habit of doing everything "dave's way." So I use my ring to slide up and my pinky to hit the fives. I guess I just learn it the way it's posted on this site, and 99.9 percent of the time it's the way dave plays it, so it just becomes comfortable for me to play it that way as well. Some of his fingerings may be unnecessary in a few songs, but it makes it look cooler (And harder than it actually is)
