There is a bluegrass band here in bend, Or. that has two guitarist, a bass player, a banjo, a chick violinist and a drummer. They are called, "the chili dogs". Not really a great name but they jam out just like the dead, phish and dmb. I haven't played w/ them on stage yet but i have jammed out at parties w/ them. We've played "jimi thing", "lie in", trippin' billes", and "satellite" at one party they threw. Blew my mind.paulaitchison wrote:i should just express that yesterday i played guitar with a friend who is an outrageously good drummer, and loves dmb . we played about 15 songs, (he honestly plays every song just as carter does, it was amazing, i was shocked how cool it sounded.)
and my guitar work was on form.
it sounded great and were now planning to start the UK''s first tribute, will be based in birmingham prob.
the LIOG jam and the AM "when all the little ants are marching" / end jam fills were extreem.
crash into me sounded just like the record (you basicly only hear the drums and guitar) and we worked out a jam that flowed between watchtower/ recently/ strairway and back to watchtower.
will try and get some rough recordings up soon. it sounded tight as any dmb trib band ive heard and with some work it will be great
we have sax/ keys/ maby a bass. need violin and a singer now.
its so cool to have played all daves songs, then finally get to play them in a band.
I've got them hooked up with a weekly gig at a lunch/dinner/bar place my boss just opened. Hoping to lay down some dsb of them and maybe some dsb of them w/ me as well. They love dmb, especially the chick violinist(she lays down the best trippin' billies, lover lay down and lie in".
Hopefully stay tuned.
