Hi everyone.

im new here. i came across this site awhile back but just registered. my name is dave and im from central ny. i have been playing guitar for about 8 years. my first 6 years i improoved only a little every year. but in the last two years i have devoted myself to a more strict practice. i concider myself pretty good now. but will always strive to get better. i started playing dave mathews from the very beginning. and can curently play about 10 of his songs pretty well. i also have been writing some of my own stuff and plan to purchase a home recording unit sometime next year to burn some stuff and put it out for critque. my first 6 years i played on a fender acoustic. last year my wife let me pick out any guitar i wanted. so i picked out a martin. it plays so sweet! i love it. i only play acoustic guitar because i love the sound. when playing i play a bit of everything. but if i had to define it i would say it is a folk, rock, roots, bluegrass, blues, style. but i think it is getting harder to define acoustic guitar now a days. so many good players mixing it up. it was dave mathews who sparked my desire to learn guitar. and am a fan of just about anything to do with acoustic guitar. my curent motto for playing is to realy now and use the whole fret board. and to play things that take me out of my compfort zone as i see this is how one gets good!

ok thats about it glad to be here.

I'm from around the Buffalo area. I'm also new here. I know mostly all of Daves songs. I started about a year ago and I practice non-stop. I only play acoustics because I love the down to earth feeling. I'd have to say Guster striked my desire to learn guitar. I started violin when I was four and played for 12 years. I quit and my music desires weren't being fullfilled. I'm a sucky singer even though ive starred in a couple musicals. I've fallen in love with this site, because the staff and the people are so helpful. Its great. Thanks well later
Caleb
