his guitar has really really low action, makes it easy for hammer ons and pulloffs

I doubt he has the action low. I've been learning his stuff for a while and I can play his songs without any special modifications to my guitar. I have never needed to lower my action and with a good volume too(dont need a microphone or anything for people to clearly hear me in a room), but I will say that learning to tap on the fretboard like he does and as cleanly and and clearly as he, does takes time and practice. Don't worry though you can always find help online on helping you how to tap if you just can't get it right. You have to build good endurance and power in your fingers and with time, and yes practice, you might not even need to look at the fretboard all the time!
PS. You might also find that for some of his songs like dueling ninjas you have to sort of pull the string a bit as you remove your fingers from the last tapped note since the release of the note is also part of the song
for example 5-0----3-0----2-0----3-0----5-0
when you remove your finger from say the fret 5 note you sort of strum it which makes it easier for the next note to be heard (volumewise), it almost makes it a hammer-on if you will.
My 2 cents.
