Keller Williams plays that guitar when he plays with the Keels but his doesnt have the bottom four strings, he takes them out. Sweet sounding instrument.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

If you want it because it looks like a chet, just get the epiphone model. that's what I did, and i put a Fishman pickup in it, changed the action a little and it plays and sounds just as good as the Gibson, given it's not quite as fancy. It might actually sound better than the Gibson, considering the Gibson could use a Fishman upgrade also. There's just something about an Ovation that you don't want. Maybe it's the use of plastic as a "tone wood"? or the rediculous looking holes in the random corner? Anybody else agree or am i just making myself sound dumb?

I have had two Ovations, and I loved them both. I got the 2nd one cuz I wanted to replace my orginal with something with the same feel, so I got the same model.

As for the plastic backing, the back and side of a guitar don't matter to the sound. It's the top and most important, the bridge, that transfers the sounds into what you hear. In fact, I read a story once where some guitar maker made a guitar with paper mache back and sides, painted it to look like wood, and fooled people into thinking it was a normal guitar.

I saw a guy on the Ants boards selling an Ovation (and a 12 string Dean) for a good price. I prefer the super-shallow backs, cuz if you get a back that's thicker, it likes to 'migrate' down your leg when you're playing. That's the only problem I really have with Ovations.

I have the same guitar, only mine is green. And yea, hate it when it slides down your leg, but I'm used to it now

You could always use it strapped and play sitting. I do it sometimes.

OR play over your left leg.

Since no one has answered you yet: the guitar in question has twelve strings, so Keller Williams plays it with 8 strings instead of twelve

So he takes the "double" E and B strings, but not A-D-B-E foursome of twos (8 strings in total).

In other words: he leaves the E-A-D-G strings (like a bass guitar)...why does he take the high two out??

Riiiiiight...guitars with different tonewoods never sound different.

Rosewood, Koa, Ovagnol, Mohogany, Maple, Plastic...it's all the same.

Not that i'm saying what you like is wrong...but how you backed it up dosn't make sense

I used to like ovations, but I like martins more
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
