Crash Into Me - Live At Folsom Field version INTRO.

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crash Into Me - Live At Folsom Field version INTRO.

Unread post by JAM » Thu Jun 15, 2006 12:11 pm

Hey Everybody!

I was trying to figure out by ear the intro part to this version of Crash Into Me. It is very difficult for me. It begins at 0:03 secs. and ends at about 0:18 secs. I am not sure if it is Dave playing but it sounds like a guitar to me. I am not sure if there was more than one guitarist in this concert? If anyone knows the tabs to this intro. it would be awsome if you could show me!!

Also, I am a bit :? confused :? about the "in a boooys dreeeaaam, in a boooys dreeeeaaam" part. I played what the tabs say for that part and I can't get it to sound like that!!!!!

Thank you in advance for any help!!!!!

Talk to you soon

Its Stefan on bass coming over Dave's strumming. TAB
And I'm pretty sure the "boy's dream..." part you're hearing is dave dropping his first finger and hitting the 2nd fret on the high e rhythmically.

yeah, the "boys dream" part is right on the site, its what tim reynolds plays live and on the album. the trick of that is to hit the high e on the upstroke on 2 and 4. So its down, up, down, UP, down. that last up is where the 2 and 4 notes are, be sure to emphazize them.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

the in a boys dream part on the site is NOT right. unless you're talking about the timmy fills tab on the left of the actual tab. but the main tab for dave's part during that part is wrong. do a search for it and you'll find it the right tab.

After playing it with the tab(which i haven't done in days).......
i agree w/ you. There's one too many sets of 4 - x42450 and it doesn't mention how to get back into the verse past the 0 - 02x45 section. I don't want to search this late, anyone have the "REAL" TAB?

I play the song(i believe perfectly) well and have been playing it since 1998ish. I don't see anything wrong with the original tab other than what i mentioned. Ofcourse i didn't search so......

Am I the only one who:

A. Has never learned this song
B. Couldn't care less that I've never learned this song
C. Detests that everyone on the planet wants anyone with a guitar to play this song

A. Most likely not
B. It's a nice little song to learn, even if you just play it for yourself every once in awhile. The fact that it became crazily overplayed doesn't take away from the fact of it being a good song.
C. Yes, I agree with you. It does get annoying whenever somebody realizes that you play the guitar and play dave stuff that they always ask you to play crash, but it does have the power to get you laid every once in a while if you just suck it up and play it. :D

But I would suggest learning it. It's really a beautiful song to know how to play if you can get past the fact that it turned into like a teeny-bopper song somehow. Funny, considering the lyrics are about a stalker.

And on a side note, I find it funny when you tell a girl that the song is about a stalker, and they always say, "No it's not!" And then you show them the Davespeak before the song on storytellers and they just go, "Oh, well that's kind of weird."

when people tell me to play it...ill play the first chord with one pick of the base..then the chord, then ill turn it into an A, then E. Just to fuck with people's heads. "Play it, Play it!!" Fuck you ill play it when i'm ready. Or i'll play the first base note and the chord...then just move the whole shape to the 6th fret..pisses people off but F them...didn't learn to play for other people right.

I usually just play a Db for them and then tell them how much I hate when people request that fucking song.

Doesn't butch do the in a boys dream part on his keyboard?
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
