Ya, should not be a problem. My friend uses my Kyser on his mandolin all the time.Lbacker wrote:Can I use my guitar Capo on a mandolin??

They make them specifically for mandolins/banjos.
But, I use a guitar capo on my mando.
The only advantage to the mandolin capo is that it is sized better. The full size capo is a little too large, but how often do you use one on a mandolin?

4 vs. 6 string and a bigger neck on a guitar make it a little harder...Machtimus wrote:...You can hold the same argument for guitar...Kahn wrote:I think one of the advantages of having such a small instrument, is that your index finger can act as a capo. I see no need in using a capo on a mandolin.

with such a small intrument, I feel because one's fingers can stretch nearly across the entire fretboard, a capo is unneccesary.Machtimus wrote:Do we really have to go into details about how dumb your statement was in its wording?Kahn wrote:no you cannotMachtimus wrote:...You can hold the same argument for guitar...Kahn wrote:I think one of the advantages of having such a small instrument, is that your index finger can act as a capo. it has nothign to do with how many strings it has, its the length of the neck, not the width. and i'm sorry, but you and kahn both must have never played a mandolin cause the idea of using your finger as a capo and playing this up on the higher frets is not rational.
and for the record, a mandolin has 8 strings you fucking douche.

But it can have 4, but it's called something different isnt it, i cant remember, a friend has a 4 string bazooki or something like that... My friend will use a my capo on his mandolin every once in a while. I keep telling him to get his own but he says he dosnt use one enough. A mandolin is smaller and it's a little easier to stretch, I think we can agree on that. And he seems to do some preatty weird and long stretches on some bar chords he does. I have played it a little bit but i guess I really dont know. I think the whole argument came with the statement about you never needing a capo for a guitar...czech wrote:and you are very fucking wrong. jesus you suckmattinbeloit wrote:I'm very full of myselfLbacker wrote:mattinbeloit wrote:Kahn wrote:with such a small intrument, I feel because one's fingers can stretch nearly across the entire fretboard, a capo is unneccesary.Machtimus wrote:Do we really have to go into details about how dumb your statement was in its wording?Kahn wrote:no you cannotMachtimus wrote:...You can hold the same argument for guitar...Kahn wrote:I think one of the advantages of having such a small instrument, is that your index finger can act as a capo.
