i know, i kinda feel bad..but its so much quicker to upload a zipped file of mp3's than flac's which are 5x-10x bigger.

They are the ones doing all the work, and they openly ask that no one convert their files to mp3 for anything except for personal use. They ask no one converts them to mp3 and shares them openly on the internet, and thats exactley what people are doing. I dont know, Im very greatful for them spending so much money on doing this, getting the shows online in a few days time and it just seems like kind of a dick thing to do to just blatently do the opposite of the one thing they ask us not to do.

that's understandable, but why do they care wouldn't they like knowing what they taped is getting out there quicker

No, apparently theyre more concerned with low quality versions of shows with their name as the recorder being out there. And how much faster is it really getting out there? Youre not dl'ing these shows without highspeed internet, I got the show in FLAC over BT in like an hour and a half, converted it to wav in a few minutes and was listening to it seconds later. All I know is, its the one thing they ask everyone not to do, they put a lot of work into it, and I dont think its that big of a deal to just obey their wishes, convert it to mp3 after you get it if you really wanna save the space, but don't put it out there for 1,000 of people to dl or they might not be so giving in the future with their recordings.

bottom line is that tapers ask not to convert them to mp3's...im guilty of doing that and i feel bad, but i dont hear any difference at all from FLAC to MP3 and mp3's save a lot of space.

Possibly, I dont but Im sure some people might. They dont care if you convert your own version to mp3, as long as you dont share that version with other people. The only versions they want accessible to the masses is lossless versions, then if single people want to convert them for their own listening go ahead, as long as you dont share them to the masses. Get it?

I can tell a big difference most of the time, but I work with audio all day every day most of the time so it's understandable if you don't, there is not that much of a difference to most people, but it's still there. I for one as a taper don't give a shit what ppl. do with my recordings, but we should still respect their wishes. I have seen this going on a lot latley so assumed we got permission because noone seemed to complain before this.
