Not to rain on the song's parade or anything, but I didn't think it was as great as some people are claiming. It might just be me, but does the verse for Idea of You sound very similiar to the verse of Dreamgirl? In the way that he sings both. They both have that raspy thing going there, and the way he fits the words in both is, in my opinion, quite similiar.
Maybe I am wrong about that. Someone listen the the verses of both and let me know if you see a resemblance as well.
I'm a bit weary of the new album if this song already bears a resemblance to Dreamgirl even before Batson has a chance to hear it.

Batson's probably heard this one... considering the band was in the studio "fleshing out new songs for the tour." Sure, it'll be subjected to Batson more after the tour's over, but if the song solidifies over the tour and is obviously enjoyed by fans, I can't imagine the band will let Batson do whatever he wants to it.jacobie423 wrote:I'm a bit weary of the new album if this song already bears a resemblance to Dreamgirl even before Batson has a chance to hear it.

yea not to jump on you too much but I don't see the similiarities to dreamgirl.
In fact, I went back to listen to it with the sole purpose of trying to match up anything that sounded like dreamgirl. Needless to say I found it very tough, and if there was anything it was probably a stretch. I dunno, the melody, tempo... everything is different really. And of course the quality of the song.
I know you are speaking of just the verse part and how it is sung, I was just elaborating on the other parts too.
