umm, well....I have a stone question....

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

ok, if anyone actually decides to read this post(there have been way too many posts on this song).....anyway, i guess maybe the bridge(?):
Transition
At end of transition slide from 8 on A-string down
E:-------------------
B:-------------------
G:-------------------
D:-------------------
A:----7-----5-----8--
E:-5-----8-----6-----
1 3 4 1 2 4

does anyone else have difficulty with the struming, the way d+t play it with the dramatic rapid ending? i thought i had this song down until a few days ago when i was playing along with the bridge benefit and that ending totally threw me off. i guess my question is.....is it all in the struming basically? dave doesn't play anything besides the above only at a rapid struming pace right?
any advice is greatly appreciated

It's just that... first he does some down strums and then starts to to down-up strums, but your hand should be going up and down always with the same speed. That's all I know about it, if it won't help, tell me and I might upload a little vid so that you can see what I mean..

Actually, I was working on this one last night. The trick is to start really slow, and then speed up. Eventually you can get that double time thing going. After you nail it, you can do pretty much anything Dave and Tim do.

Any further questions, feel free to PM.

No, he goes down up. Doing it double time with all down strokes would not only be a waste of energy, but damn hard.

it is double time. but yeah you usually are just picking out the individual notes but on that ending you strum it while muting such that yeah i guess it is down up but i absolutely hate to say down up.

it's more like strumming in double time but whatever the difference it is not nearly as hard as this thread would make it out to be.

Not all down strokes...where did you learn your strumming? Just kidding, but when I meant double-time...I'm sorry if I confused anyone by thinking it was all in down strokes. No way.
