ok here goes...i tried to elimitate open strings since we know dave doesn't really use those much....

anyway, i guess this is my first tab so be nice, but i still want input. basically my main change was the "ship in a bottle" part in the verse, and and the end of the verse, which i think are 2 seperate riffs, one ending on an E (in the verse), and the other ending on a D (end of verse)...

i started with the official tab, and i put stars next to what i changed:

Code: Select all

****"Baby, it's alright..."
E:---------------------------------
B:---------------------------------
G:-7--6--------------5--4----------
D:-7--7----6(7)-6----5--5----5--4--
A:---------7----7------------5--5--
E:---------------------------------

*the 7 replaces the 6 at the very end of the song.

End of "Baby, it's alright..."
Last time this is shortened
E:-------------------------------------------------------
B:-------------------------------------------------------
G:-------------------------------------------------------
D:-------------------------------------------------------
A:-5--7--7--5--x--7--x--x--7--x--5--5--7--5--x--7--7--7--
E:-5--5--5--5--x--5--x--x--5--x--5--5--5--5--x--5--5--5--
   1 1 1 1 1

Verse
****maybe he plays the 23 from the D chord at the beginning?
E:-----------------------------------------
B:----3--------3--3-3-------3--------3--2--
G:----2--------2--2-2-------2--------2--2--
D:----0-----0--0--0-0-------0-----0--0--2--
A:-------4---------------------4--------0--
E:-3---------------------3-----------------
   2 3 2 3

****changed the 'ship in a bottle' part:
E:------------------------------
B:-------------------------3-3--
G:-------------------------2-2--
D:-------------------------0-0--
A:--7/9--7--5--4--5--7/9--------
E:------------------------------
     4 4 2 1 2 4
*this is just the fingers i used, wait to hit last D chord...
it sounds funny but if you listen it sounds like he slides to
the 9 and then just pauses while he sings...

not changed:
E:----------------------------------------
B:----------------3-3-----3-3-----3----3--
G:----------------2-2-----2-2-----2----2--
D:----0-----0--0--0-0---------------------
A:-------4-------------4-------2----0-----
E:-3--------------------------------------
   2 3 4 1

****changed this:
"Ship in the bottle..."/"Woke up a..."
E:-------------------------------3-2--
B:-------------------------------3-3--
G:-------------------------------2-2--
D:-----------------------------0-0-0--
A:--7/9--7--5--4--5--5/7--5-----------
E:------------------------------------
    4 4 2 1 2 2 2

not changed:
Bridge
E:-------------------------------------------------------
B:----3-----3-----3-----3--------3-----3-----3-----3----- <---3
G:----2-----2-----2-----2--------2-----2-----2-----2----- <---2on first 2(1on second 2)
D:-------------------------------------------------------
A:-2-----2-----2-----2--------4-----4-----4-----4--------
E:-------------------------------------------------------
   1 1 1 1 4 4 4 4

E:-------------------------------------------------------
B:----3-----3-----3-----3--------3-----3-----3-----3----- <---3
G:----2-----2-----2-----2--------2-----2-----2-----2----- <---1
D:-0-----0-----0-----0-----------------------------------
A:-------------------------------------------------------
E:----------------------------3-----3-----3-----3--------
                              2 2 2 2

I don't understand why people don't use their thumbs more.. I mean.. there is no reason to shift fretting fingers in the middle of the bridge there, and it sounds better if you don't because your pair of notes stay perfectly the same the entire way (finger pressure bending pitch) and you don't risk string noise.. and you don't have that tiny gap from lifting your fingers up (ie bad technique).. THUMBS PEOPLE, THUMBS.. USE THEM it's not just there to stick up your ass :-p

i use my thumb a lot. but that's because i have huge monkey hands. i guess people w/ shorter fingers may have more problems, i don't know.
