Danelectro or Jerry Jones?

Unread post by Lexington Steele » Wed Oct 29, 2003 4:34 pm

I'm thinking about getting an electric guitar. Just something to mess with becuase i'm more into acoustic, but i'd like to have one. I really like the sound of the dano's and have read some good reviews about them. The only thing is that i hear they are cheaply made (obviously becuase of the price). Edromanguitars.com has Jerry Jones brand new for $665. Is it worth the extra $500 that i would spend over the price of dano on ebay?

in my experience, $600 or so is sort of a threshold for electric guitars. it's where they start getting pretty nice instead of....not so nice...i've never played a jerry jones though.

Jerry Jones guitars are kinda cool. The latest Danelectros kinda look/feel like toys. They have wider necks, and the quality isn't necessarily good. If you're just going to tinker with some Dave songs for personal use, learn them on a cheap Danelectro. If you play live or you play other music on a Bari, spend the $600 and get a JJ. Depending on the guitar, Danelectro's pickups aren't always worthy for hard rock or metal or anything like that. I think it'll be fine for the Everyday/Some Devil songs though.
