New Twangy Strings

Unread post by LIPESU56 » Wed May 24, 2006 7:54 pm

I just bought a set of D'Addario EXP17's (Mediums). This is my first set of new strings. I've been playing guitar now for a few months, so the old strings are whatever came on my guitar. Anyway, the EXP17's sound really twangy, almost tinny. Just wondering if that's how they are supposed to sound, or if they will sound better after some playing?

agreed, and when your srings break in and a few weeks later start sounding flat, you'll miss that new bright twangy sound.

You might also want to consider another type of strings for the next time. You can record something with these ones and compare them later...

Evey Hammond: Who--who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what... and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

I have a washburn wd43s. Its got a solid top and laminate sides. Bought it as a starter; I don't plan on keeping for a long time. My buddy uses EXP17's on his Gibson and I like the sound. I realize he has a much nicer guitar that would sound better than mine regardless of type of strings. But I just figured I'd see if some of the good sound would carry over to my guitar with those strings.
