Tripping Billies Lyric From Bible

Unread post by DrumsFoDaSoul » Wed May 17, 2006 6:31 pm

Recently, I discovered that the lyric "Eat, drink, and be merry for tommmorrow well die" is out of the bible.

I think its pretty cool that Dave knows his history and bible. To me it seems that musicians arent up to par with average people, but this isnt the case for DM.

Yes, Dave is a very devote christian.... I always knew my sunday school teacher was a lying bitch when she said she coined that phrase and invented circumcision. Thanks for the heads up buddy!

I thought that was fairly well known. I don't know a lot of people who didn't know that.

But yes he talks about god and the devil in a lot of his songs, literally and metaphorically. Especially on Some Devil (the whole album)

Yah, that's a pretty popular phrase from the Bible. Nothing that would make anyone to say "wow dave really knows his bible"

From what I have heard him say, it seems like Dave has always been divided over the whole christianity thing. I think he believes in some sort of higher being, but doesn't see God the same way other christians do. Dave told Charlie Rose a while back that he thought the idea of God having a plan for every one was very fickle, especially after his sister was shot.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Exactly, I'd heard that phrase before I heard TB.

Does anyone know if "drive me to distraction" from Two Step is a common phrase, cause i was reading "On the Road" by Jack Kerowac (sp?) and that line is in there. Just wondering if he lifted it from the book or its commonplace.
