Did a little show last night

Unread post by Taylor2885 » Sun May 14, 2006 12:56 pm

I did a little show last night at a local bar around here (sorry no audio, it wasn't recorded) and right before I got there I was listening to a version of warehouse that brian fost had uploaded a while back in his "Lost Acoustics" file. It's got the similar intro as on Luther College but a bit heavier but what I love most about it is Dave sings the old intro that's on the UTTAD album, it's almost a haunting sound.

So anyway I play with a guy that does some of the Tim stuff (he's pretty good, but not Timmy good) and we tried it. Added a little reverb on the mic in the intro and I gotta say i nailed that intro vocally. After the set I had tons of people come up to me and say how much that intro rocked and how they got chills down their spine when they listened to it. Especially during the "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYY" part in the beginning and the old vocal intro on UTTAD.

Anyway I guess the point of the thread is how great that intro is and I get chills everytime I listen to that version of the song. Dave's voice is just amazing on it, and like I said earlier, almost haunting. I knew I atleast somewhat pulled it off when others told me that I gave them chills.

Sounds like you had a pretty good night. Man i just listened to that version and singing along i nearly passed out trying to keep up with dave
I wonder how much of his voice is tweaked with equiptment or if its all him.

Yeh it's tough but I do a lot of singing exercises every day to try and expand my lungs and make them stronger. I would bet that's it's all him with just a bit of distortion and reverb, Dave's got pretty strong lungs (for a smoker). The only part that I didn't attempt is when he goes REAL high. I'm sure I could do it but I felt like people would be like "What the hell?"

IMO the intro is too long.

I shortened it a bit. Didn't want people to start to get antsy. You're right, for a bar scene that intro is too long. I think it came out nice though

I'm at work right now but I'll try to remember to do it when I get home if someone else doesn't do it before me.

Thanks man, that was a stand up thing to do. Its only up to those who have the sources to share, to enable others to experience the things in life that are memorable.
Boy am i going through some pretty heavy belief and living ordeals lately. I feel like everything i've been saying in the last week(not only on this site) have been sounding completely cheesy but at the same time have reflected exactly what i've been thinking.

When all i wanted to say was thanks for sharing the lost acoustics.
(shit, i already have them anyway  )
