So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Code: Select all
Verse
E-2--x-x-x-----------------3--x-x-x--------------------
B-3--x-x-x-----------------0--x-x-x--------------------
G-2--x-x-x-----------------0--x-x-x-----------------(0)---
D-0--x-x-x------4-----4-0--0--x-x-x------5-----5\7--0---
A-----------4\5---4\5------2---------4\5---4\5---------
E--------------------------3---------------------------
(2) 1 (2) 1 (1) 2 (1) (2)
If you listen to most D&T recordings, I hear the open D and G right before starting the verse over. It's a small nit picky thing, but I was wondering if I'm just hearing things. It's how I play it, anyone else?

I think you almost have to do that while moving your hand back to the next chord, and yea, I definately hear it in recordings.

K, I'm not as dumb as I expected. Just a little thought, keeps the music going as you play it. This thread can burn now.

I dont, never even knew it existed, probably cause I play the studio version instead of the D&T versions.
DMB shows attended: 4/12/05 - Molson Amphitheater, 9/12/06 @ Air Canada Centre.
Upcoming: DMB June 9th 2009 @ Molson Amphitheater

i just tried it not playing the opens when going back to the chords and it sounds dull as hell. it really does keep the music going and flow into the next chord

ya, i play those open notes, but also, just for fun when i'm playing alone, i add 2 notes. i got these notes from the opening two notes that the sax/violin play. after each of the chords, i slide up to 7th and 8th frets on the b string
Verse
E-2--x-x-x-------------------3--x-x-x--------------------
B-3/7x-x-x------------------3/8--x-x-x--------------------
G-2--x-x-x------------------0--x-x-x-----------------(0)---
D-0--x-x-x------4-----4-0--0--x-x-x------5-----5\7--0---
A-----------4\5---4\5--------2---------4\5---4\5---------
E-----------------------------3---------------------------
(2) 1 (2) 1 (1) 2 (1) (2)
I slide upto those notes on the last upstroke. it just sounds kinda cool i think, opinions?

Same concept, just playing the 5 on the A string instead of playing and open on the the D string. Same note
