no but there is a difference in playing. the necks are alot bigger, and its not as precise, with the play this model, all productions of this model are the same type thing...i dont think that made any sense. but im saying my corvette plays amazingly and smooth and fast. other, newer corvette's dont play as nice.i like tictacs wrote:there really isn't any tonal difference at all.bassman462 wrote:they've also changed from close to hand built. to factory produced. im not saying there no good anymore, im just saying its better to get an older one.i like tictacs wrote:When you order from Modulus, they do it custom, for the most part. dpcustom does seem like a really good deal, and a neck-thru model does seem sexy. so many options too
and as for warwicks all sucking now, no, they don't, the only thing they have changed is the neck wood, from wenge to ovangkol, and the nut, from brass to a graphite composite.

it's more precise, if anything. CNC> hand, when you are producing basses as fast as warwick. Obviously, something like a CT or Ritter is built by hand and will be better because they spend years building a single bass. but when you are a big company like warwick and need to pump out 20+ basses a day, you can't hire 20 luthiers to build basses to the same precision and speed as a CNC machine.bassman462 wrote:no but there is a difference in playing. the necks are alot bigger, and its not as precise, with the play this model, all productions of this model are the same type thing...i dont think that made any sense. but im saying my corvette plays amazingly and smooth and fast. other, newer corvette's dont play as nice.i like tictacs wrote:there really isn't any tonal difference at all.bassman462 wrote:they've also changed from close to hand built. to factory produced. im not saying there no good anymore, im just saying its better to get an older one.i like tictacs wrote:When you order from Modulus, they do it custom, for the most part. i owned a 2004 corvette, after a truss rod adjustment and bridge adjustment, it played just as good as the flea basses i own now. the whole warwick hand vs. cnc argument is ridiculous, if you know how to set up a bass it doesn't matter. what you play in guitar center is not indicative of every corvette.
