So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

i figured songs like the stone and one sweet world would def be single notes, but people on this board talk about them bieng strummed. So my question are most all songs strummed or what? like are the single notes in lie in our graves strumed or just picked?

Well, they are picked. Some finger picked. But, some of them that are picked, he almost strums. He hits the string above and below very quietly and softly in a muting process. So it gives a rythm sense, yet still being picked. But, songs like Grace Is Gone, Where Are You Going (sometimes he uses a pick), Pay For What You Get, Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors, are fingerpicked.

You have picked songs
Percussive picked songs
Strummed songs
&
Fingerpicked songs

pretty much anything dave does is going to be percussive, just think of his right hand as a metronome

have a look at a WWYS video. You can see Dave's hand strumming the pattern aa through the verse riff which consists of some single notes and stuff as well. He mutes the stings which aren't played so perfectly that it allows him to stumm them all. and it's still sounding great...
