rip the hell out of this

Unread post by davekllawre210 » Mon Apr 24, 2006 4:30 pm

i know my singing sucks. however it used to suck a lot more. so i'm just posting this to get some advice on my singing and what to do to get better. feel free to rip it apart as much as you want i can take it. i just whiped through the song once really quick so theres a few minor errors, but i'm just looking mainly for singing advice. i completely fuck up at the end, but was too lazy to fix it for just that one part. its an mp3. thanks.

yeh the voice definetly needs more work, but thats not what im going to address

im going to address your attitude mister. take some more time with your recordings and have some pride. if you dont like it and arent satisfied how do you expect anyone else to like it?

Are you playing it in one track? You should try to match notes on a piano to get a feel of what notes you should be hitting. I don't think this is a very fitting song for your vocal range. Can you sing it higher? It sounds like you have good rythm.

PS: Do you have a fish?

haha... is it raining in the background or is that a fish tank?

but seriously:

Things to fix with the guitar
1) rhythm - try practicing with a metronome so you don't speed up, and so you can practice staying in time
2) chords - try emphasizing different parts of the chords instead of playing the same exact thing each time in the same measure, like try hitting the bass tone then the rest of the chord on the next strum. break it up a bit.

Things to fix with the voice
1) sing an octave higher
2) practice singing a lot slower and to the recording of dave, so you can match the tone note by note, then you can practice faster and faster until you've got it down
3) put some feeling into it!
