looking for a Martin DM3MD

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

JUST42NIGHT - The guy who e-mailed me about how he got #2...also inquired if I would make a website registry of all DM3MD owners so they can chat and whatnot. PLENTY of enthusiasts about cars do this and since there are so few...it might be possibly to round up a good amount. Anyway, lemme know if your interested to be in this thing...it will also be a special page about the DM3MD. Anyway, IM or e-mail me...thanks....pace

Sure...DM3MDs are a sexy piece of work. But I mean come on...really the only difference between his guitar and other Martins is that it has his sig like someone already said. Shit...If you want one that bad customize a Martin to be just like that. The only difference is that it wouldn't have his sig.

You have a point without doubt, its not the greatist guitar ever. I guess the sig. and the fact that Dave helped design this guitar to his liking just gives me the warm fuzzes in my tummy. But, then again you can get a great guitar for a $1000, and a pinto will get you there just like a Lexus but it is that special feeling it gives you and the bottom line is, it is just money it will come and go but a feeling and a passion you can not put a price on. So its all about the fuzzies.

I just don't think the fuzzies would be worth spending the extra cash...since you can make the same exact guitar minus the sig. I don't know exactly how much custom guitars cost, but that wouldn't be a bad idea if you can't get ahold of one.

I'm curious though...if I were to customize a d-28, add some little sexier rosette, etc. think that would cost a lot?

thanks just42night for enforceing my argument! But yes i was wrong about the wood inlay....i said South African,.... and yes it is African Paddock(or somthing like that). And yes the DM3MD is a spin off of the HD-28V....yes it has some D-35 qualities...but it's WAY closer to a HD-28V. I have seen a DM3MD, and even though i never got to play it the man who brought it to the music store said that the two guitars were pretty close. Now I do have exsperience on the D-35 and HD-28V because I own both. So i know my sounds !! just42night is one lucky son-of-a-bitch....because I have been looking for a DM3MD for a year and a half and NO ONE will sell theres .... so just42night you are a lucky man! How do you like your 914c ?? I was thinking about investing in one of those. I was in the music store and I was playing a bunch of 700 series Taylors and then I started playing the 900 series !!!! Pretty much ever 900 series guitar is GREAT!! Well i must say congradulations on the DM3MD !

I think too many people want to be Dave. I wanted too to but I realized that I'm not Dave and I want to develop my own originality and not copy off of everyone elses. I'm far away from that but thats not the point...

I dont know about Martins but a friend of mine looked into getting the 8 series inlays on a Taylor 7 series and they told him it would be 6-7 hundred dollars to customize the inlays. Your probably looking at an outrageous price to do anything custom at Martin also.

HendrixWS what you dont understand is that every-single artist is influenced by another artist. There is no problem will taking a style that someone has made and putting your own origanality to it! And plus we are talking about guitars here...and one thing is for sure that the DM3MD is probably one of the best Martin guitars ever created!! And if you own one you know ! So it's not a matter of trying to be like "Dave" cause I'm fucken sick of hearing people say that kind of crap. It's the quest of lookinf for the best sound...and every guitar owner here knows that once you buy your first guitar you get addicted and you need to buy anyother guitar and another!!

How do you like your 914c ?? I was thinking about investing in one of those. I was in the music store and I was playing a bunch of 700 series Taylors and then I started playing the 900 series !!!! Pretty much ever 900 series guitar is GREAT!! Well i must say congradulations on the DM3MD ![/quote]

Thanks! It makes me smile every morning when I wake up and look over at my two guitars. Anyhow, the 914c, is great, but unless you play in a band or with other instruments i would recommend a 714c. The 714c is practically the same guitar except for the top and the inlay, I love the way it sounds on it's own very warm like the martin, get the one with the darker top, while the 914c is very bright, sometimes I feel like a Gypsy King, I enjoy a more mellow sound and I do believe, maybe someone can confirm, that's why Dave plays his 914c with the band, to really cut through the other instruments and the DM3MD with Tim and solo. Meaning, the Martin is intimate and warmer to play alone or with others guitars????
