Everything he did was an exact replica of a version of the song. I'm just saying that he could loosen it up a bit and get a little more into the music rather than worry about making it sound just the way dave does it. But i guess i could just be being picky, he was singing and stuff so its his call on how the song goes.

i dont know how to explain it, but just because you put IMO in front of it, it doesnt make it an opinion

so, it appears after all, that it WAS just my opinion.

i could be a jerk and say "well just because you put "i think" in front of it doesnt make it an opinion", but i'm not going to.

fact is, if you look around here objectively, you will se just how much people on here idolize dave, and put him on a freaking pedestal, and insist on playing everything "exactly the way dave does". in reality, i think his talent is not in his playing ability, but more in his musical creativity, because with some practice his stuff really isnt THAT difficult. challenging, but not difficult.

sorry dude, but...what's your point? just because it's not "THAT difficult" means we shouldn't strive to play it the way he does? there are certain sounds you can only get from playing in the positions he does, and hey...its a cool thing when you can sit back and go "wow...that sounded pretty spot on."

i don't understand how that has anything to do with idolizing him. i agree with you that he's not technically that incredible, and that his music isn't necesasrily difficult, but i'm not connecting your two points.

actually, not entirely true. i play some of his songs differently than this site suggests, and it sounds pretty "spot on". (i can name two off the top of my head)

i play quite a few songs differently than dave does. sometimes i use full chords when he's using his slidable chords and such. but i'm not sure who you're talking about when you say a lot of people on this site. obviously the site creator is going to put the tabs the way dave plays it. but he also transcribes the songs that are in the baritone tuning to standard etc. i learned the songs that dave plays the way he plays them and i think they've really helped me w/ stretches and diverse chords.

no one's pissed around here if someone plays a song a little differently than dave does. i'm not sure why you're so upset that people like playing the songs exactly like dave does. i mean, in the end when we're all hanging out and playing, does it really matter?

maybe i jumped to conclusions about the general opinion of other forum members, but one time when i suggested something in a dave song, i got a bunch of "thats not the way dave plays it" responses. and then ironically, when i pointed out an error in the tab (which was not the way dave played it), they said "wtf that sounds terrible that way, no way does he play it like that"

if people here really aren't hung up on "thats the way dave plays it" then i apologize. i just felt that people here idolized him way too much.

don't get me wrong. i idolize him. he pretty much taught me how to play guitar...only he doesn't know it. but i would say that 90% of the people you'll meet on these boards like to do things the way dave does them but aren't afraid to venture out. it's the only way you learn. now correcting a tab is a little different. i didn't see that one post, but all tabs are based strictly on video, not audio. so it pretty much takes an act of congress to change the official tabs. which is the way it's supposed to be. if it's tabbed by video, then you have to have good video evidence to have a tab changed. just the way it goes.

but you can't intellegently be suprised that a tab site based strictly on dmb tabs has people that are huge dave fans and even idolize him. it's kind of the way things go. it's like going to a dave concert and expecting to find no dave fans. makes no sense my friend
