Tabbing Songs Out

Unread post by BamaRags12 » Sun Apr 16, 2006 6:32 pm

I don't feel like searching the internet forever so I figure I'm gonna try to get help from experience. Anywho- what kind of program (free and easy to use) would allow me to tab out songs? Messing around with Dodo, I found a way to play rhythm and lead at the same time.

I use Wordpad. Just set up the standard tab setup:
E-----------------------------
B-----------------------------
G-----------------------------
D-----------------------------
A------------------------------
E------------------------------

Then, use the Insert key to put your numbers in the correct positions.
Hope it helps.

if you use notepad or wordpad, using the font Courier will make it look so much better, and it's easier to line up since the font is based on a square grid.

a way to add some color to Bb...

E------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------------
D---------------10---8---7-------7---8--------
A-----------8------------------8----------------
E------6----------------------------------------- 3x

Then the normal swith to:

E------------1-----------
B------------1-----------
G---- 3----- 2----------
D------------3-----------
A---- 1------3----------
E-----3------1-----------

It's not free, but well worth shelling out $12 for.

http://www.tabit.net/
Features wrote:TabIt is a full featured program for creating, playing, and printing guitar, bass, or banjo tablature.

Some of its features include:

* Playback (using MIDI).
* Multiple track support. Enter and play songs with up to 15 different instruments playing simultaneously. Each track may have its own instrument (chosen from a list of 128 MIDI instruments) and tuning, as well as volume and pan settings.
* Drum tracks. Augment your tabs with up to 47 different drums.
* Printing.
* Text file export, which converts your tablature into ASCII text files for distribution.
* MIDI file export, which converts your tablature into standard MIDI files, suitable for playing or editing in other programs.
By FAR, the best program for tabliture. Plus, the site has a forums section where you can request certain tabs be tabbed out by forum members. The ability to have midi playback makes this completely worth paying for.
