Smashing Pumpkins - Today

Unread post by dmbguitar718 » Sat Apr 08, 2006 1:42 am

I was messing around the other day, and I started playing Today by the Smashing Pumpkins on my acoustic. Over yesterday and today, I mapped out a little acoustic version. I like how it turned out. I changed a bunch of stuff, as you'll notice.

I love this song, good job. Critique on the recording- The guitar sounded excelent, what kind of set up on that? The only complaint to me was that the vocal mic had a little too much fuz from the gain. If you have the means to do it, put a filter on it, but great job, the mix came out preatty good too, everything could be heard. If you wanted to remix it I would of made the voice the central emphasis but it's great how it is.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have a filter. How much do those run for? I'm never good at messing with vocal tracks.

My guitars are stereo mic'ed with two mics: an Audio Technica AE3000 and an Audio Technica AE5100. They were included in a recording setup given to me by a family friend.

Thanks Miguel. And yeah, it's me. I've been playing the piano a lot lately.

Nice. I liked the little solo near the end. I agree with with Matt though; the vocals seem like their in the background. Do to have a keyboard that you plug into your M-Box or do you just mic it?

Thanks guys. :) I used the MBox for my keyboard, I just plugged it right in. I didn't mic it. I'll put a tab up in a bit.

guitar sounds sweet, how much are those mics worth? sound is real crisp. Any Corgan song is hard to cover just because his voice is so unique, sounds good though pat.
