since you listened, what style of music can you hear that vocalist singing, because we're writing music for her right now and we're having trouble pinpointing a style, because we only listen to male vocalists mostlysfmartins wrote:The guitar very nice!
The voice if very sweet too. Nice recording!
Thanks!

Hey dave, this was a pretty good recording overall. Clean vocals on the girl's part. As for the guitar, I noticed that in the end as the song got more intense, you started to strum a bit faster too. Rhythm is crucial! I know that this was a problem of mine in the past, so I have to be extra-conscious to stay on beat whenever the song changes directions. But good job overall!

It's hard to tell with just one song, but I always find girls to be great with acoustic sound (like this song you've recorded). This is because girls have clearer voices (well not ALL girls...praisedave wrote:since you listened, what style of music can you hear that vocalist singing, because we're writing music for her right now and we're having trouble pinpointing a style, because we only listen to male vocalists mostlysfmartins wrote:The guitar very nice!

Anyway, this week I saw a nice English band with a girl singing and they had:
Electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and violin. Their sound was like Dave Matthews Band but with more rhythm. The girl's singing was strong and it was great.
Maybe you wanna try a similar sound with your vocalist.
Don't know if this was a great help...

edit: btw did anyone else think i sped it up at the end? because i just listened again and it sounds pretty even, except for the fact that i delayed the first note of the outro.

yeh that does help a little, we have really eclectic influences on our writing. what i really want is a solid soulful acoustic group singing slower songs along the lines of cannonball and like hallelujah, unfotunately none of us can write lyrics anything near that, and she prefers a fast more poppy tone... i have high hopes tho. shes got mad talentsfmartins wrote:It's hard to tell with just one song, but I always find girls to be great with acoustic sound (like this song you've recorded). wow that means alot coming from you...juineaux wrote:lovely job on the song. Your guitar playing is spot on, and her voice is really good....has a haunting quality to it....which fits the song perfectly. Do you two have any other songs?
we play alot of covers together, but we're dis-satisfied with just doing covers so we're trying to write original material but we're both pretty stringent and critical of our own stuff, we hold it to high standards.
we just got this new recording setup last week, so the tracks will begin to stack up. thanks again tom.
