been a while.....an original of mine

Long time, no see.
Heres a song I recorded a few weeks ago, it's got alot of bass freq. in the vocals that didn't get rolled off....so when you listen to it I would turn down the bass down on your player(cause all that bass in the voice sounds bad). Anyways, tell me what you think-

When I opened this I thought it was going to be a staind cover, lol.

As always your voice is great it has that Tom Waits/Bob Dylan sound to it. This is a nice tune, keep up the good work and keep posting.

EDIT: Ok, so I just listened to this song about 12 times on repeat. Can I get a tab and the lyrics to this? great tune

Hey thanks!!!

I've seem to have lost the lyrics for it, so I'll have to re-write them down. I'll get the tab & lyrics up in the next day or so. Thanks again!

BTW- I'm re-recording this song in a studio soon, what do you think it needs for instrumentation?

well in the begining you do that little run through before strumming that chord. Its a really nice little run, I think if you used that in more it would sound better. Also I think this song is screaming for some harmonica or some steel guitar. Maybe a nice slow snare drum beat would sound nice.

I would do anything to have your voice.

You play banjo right? I think the banjo playing some lead would be great. That and some gentle piano playing the chords in the background.

I love this tune and what can be said about your voice that hasn't been already said. Very soulful.

TOM! how ya been? God i missed your stuff... thought you had outgrown us.

this is another beautiful piece, i like your voice more than i remember liking it (/backhandedcompliment)

dont listen to these guys a banjo and piano would fuck this up hardcore. CELLO is all i can say. a cello in the background matches the feeling im getting from this song perfectly.

listening to your stuff makes me feel like your voice has to kick ass to have any chance of making it. your vocals are so original, dont ever lose that man

I'm still tabbing it out, but here's the lyrics:
It sounds like a love song, but it's a little darker, tell me if you like em':
Lay your rifle down, I've only come for the winter
There's a storm three miles south and I thought I would just stay here a short little while
And I know your'e short again, and I'll try to help you with that debt the best I can

And she says I've been gone too long
-repeat-

And I want you all over town, and I want you back
-repeat-

The snow it came in and pulled at the roots, and wrapped us in shrouds, and they formed like empty throwns
and we sit on the floor, listen as the boards bend, shake, rattle, and shatter their bones

And she says I've been gone too long

And I want you to stay

And I want you all over town, and I want you back

I liked it a lot, especially your voice. Lyrics are very cool too.

Good song man. I really like that guitar run at the beginning. I don't really think it needs any more instrumentation to it, but if you want to add anything, I think a little slide guitar would sound great in there.

Are you recording a new cd? Is your old one still for sale?
