Suggest a guitar for me please?
I recently had the chance to play an acoustic guitar(for 20 min) and I loved it! I'm really still a SUPER newbie on playing guitars(played on an electric for a while(2 months)), but could you guys please suggest some good acoustic guitars for about 200 bucks or less? That seems to be my price range atm.
I've read on here that I should go into the store and play some and pick the one that I like, but I'm really not that great at playing them, and I don't think I'd be a very good judge on what is good and what not. So please help me!
Thanks in advance!

guitar
you can't get a whole lot for $200 but I guess my suggestion for that price would be an Art & Lutherie, if you can find one around. They are very nice sounding and nice playing guitars for the price. If you want to spend another $100 or so you can get a nice Seagull guitar that will almost certainly satisfy your hunger (thirst) for that oh so nice acoustic guitar sound.

I play an Ibanez sounds pretty good, looks nice although i banged it up a few times and dust has really messed up the fretboard....there are some really nice looking Ibanez's out there.

there are a lot of nice looking pieces of shit out there. At least with seagulls you can trust you're getting something that's made well and sounds good. I don't trust cheap Takamines, and I don't have any personal experience with Ibanez, although I heard they're a good bang for the buck. I suggest going down to the closest guitar center or your local guitar shop and play guitars that are in your price range. Ask questions, compare and contrast, bring a friend that's an experienced guitar player and ask him for advice. that's the best advice I can give.6StringSamurai wrote:I play an Ibanez sounds pretty good, looks nice although i banged it up a few times and dust has really messed up the fretboard....there are some really nice looking Ibanez's out there.

Making friends with good guitar people or just musicians and sound techs is a great way to learn or even get noticed.

I just found this ranking on about.com (http://guitar.about.com/cs/acoustic/tp/ ... ustics.htm). I know some of you gave me suggestions but when I go to look for a "seagull" I get tons of different models
So I was trying to find a list of the best beginner acoustics. Anyone know much about these guitars?
1) Seagull S6
2) Yamaha F310
3) Takamine G-240
4) Fender DG-7
5) Epiphone PR-100
Thanks a ton!

I know that the Seagull S6 is a great guitar for the money. Also, the Seagul M6 is also a good choice. I think the difference is that the S6 has Cherry back and sides and the M6 has Mahogany back and sides. check out their website, its a rather good one.jimmything117 wrote:I just found this ranking on about.com (http://guitar.about.com/cs/acoustic/tp/ ... ustics.htm). the Yamaha F310 is also a very popular beginner guitar. Like the seagull, its is lightweight but made well, nice and easy to play, and has decent sound. I don't know much about the Tak but the Fender and Epiphone are probably good choices too.
You should also consider a Washburn, for they are cheap but good. You'll see there are many fans out there of Washburn guitars. Also, Aria guitars are good and cheap, if you can find em around.
have fun in your endeavor!
