Considering upgrading, would like some advice

Thanks man, I appreciate it, but with shipping and import taxes the price would easily equal what I'd pay in a Norwegian store. What I need to figure out is basically whether I need the pickup at all. I've never played a semi-acoustic, and am pretty clueless as to what I can do with one. Can I, for example, connect it to my computer and made direct recordings instead of playing into a mic?

To Portugal I just payed 20Eur for the shipment. Nothing else. I don't see Norway there, but you might consider send them an email.

For Sweden the DM costs 733Eur:

and shiping costs are 15Eur:

So your order would be 748Eur. You won't have to pay anything more, because this already includes taxes from Sweden.
You can always get a local luthier in Norway to install you a nice pick-up.

Anyway, if you have a pick-up on your guitar you can plug it directly to the mic input of your pc.
You might find interesting to have some effects (like reverb or stuff) before, but it is straightforward.
I'm not an expert, I'm sure someone else will add something to this.

Besides all this, I think this should only be an alternative if you can't get it from the States.

As I said, I suggest you put all your options (model, location, price) in a Excel worksheet. It helped me decide.

Aaah, I see, thanks a lot man. I thought I had to add taxes and stuff to that price. That's a pretty cool concept. I'll shoot them an e-mail and see if they ship to Norway as well.

Tomorrow I'm going to the store to get a Martin DM. I'm 90% sure, so I'll give it some more thought tonight.

Thanks, man. I played the DX1 and the DM at the store the other day, and was amazed by how much better the DM was. I really liked it, and I managed to talk down the price, so I'm pretty sure I'll go for it. I'll make the final decision tomorrow though.

$1150. At Musician's Friend it's $749

Oh well, I'm giving up any plans of getting one from outside of Norway, it would be too much of a hassle, and it would probably end up just as expensive. The only option left at this point is having my uncle bring over a Larrivee from Canada, but I don't know if I want to drop that much money on a guitar I've never tried.

I loved the Martin DM, and I'm sure I'll be really happy about it if I decide to go for it.

yeah, I'm pretty torn about it myself. I know I would probably be happy with it, but I keep thinking I could get a better one. I really really want a Larrivee, even though I haven't even played any. I could get this one for the same price, but I would probably have to wait until the summer:

my only advice. You are on the edge of purchasing a laminant or solid wood guitar. That is the largest component to sound wquality you will find and you can avoid getting the inferior.
I just wouldnt spend that much on a laminant, it doesnt make sense to me.

As far as buiying a guitar without ever playign one. I bought my alvarez AD60SC without ever playign it. I played one alvarez for 3 seconds in a shop and liked it a lot, and ended up ordering online a completely different alvarez. I got it and I hated it. played it for 1 day and then I had to take off to europe.
When I got back I loved it. The sound was awesome, it played better, i dont know what it was, maybe it was form having to play swede's shitty seagul, but i loved my guitar.
If there was one guitar I would be confident in buying without playing, it would be a larrivee. Remember, actiopn can always be changed. so I think what you need is to have some people post clips of the D-03. if you like it, I would be confident enough to order one.
