That's a really cool riff.
It was hard to hear the words at times.

yeeeeh... im not the best singer...

here are the lyrics

why cant i be for her everything and more she is to me
i can never repay her for what shes done... because
she'll never know

her smile lights the way for so many lost in the dark
even though i tell her everyday... it sadly seems
she'll never know

even though it rains on her right now
i know she'll be ok somehow
nothing was ever ever able to conquer her

the world has fallen on her shoulders as of late
in vain i try to help her carry the weight
she'll never know

even though it rains on her right now
i know she'll be ok somehow
nothing was ever ever able to conquer her

she never knew
about my love
she never knew
she was the one
she never knew
id die for her
she never knew
she was my world

she never knew
she never knew
she never knew
she never knew
and she'll never know

oh, starlit sky
i wonder if
you are seeing the same
images
up above
and does this distance steal
the thoughts we've had of love
im alone, but im alive
and i swear that i
can feel you tonight

i never knew
what id have to do
just to be with you
sacrafice both our lives
just to make it out alive
i never knew
what id id go through
now that i am gone
sun will rise
sun will fall
and both our lives go on

i have more, but i cant think of them off the top of my head
they're written down at home

(not recorded yet, just got back to college and my recording equipment)

I got tired of waiting for stuff that seems to never come, so I'll post my finished mp3 here.

Comments would be great. Thanks.

Never Knew
---------------------------------
Words and Music by Tony Dowe

---------------------------------
Sometimes I close my eyes
And I still see your face
And the ghosts of our past
That I can't erase

For I've seen my baby
Laying down in the sand
Fighting our good fight
As best that she can

Battles are won
By those young boys in the sun
And who knows the cost
For our innocence has been lost

I needed to love you
Love I wanted to share
But I had to leave you
Stranded out there

For it's been a while
Try to make our last stand
Seek some redemption
In a far away land

Battles are won
By those young boys in the sun
And who knows the cost
For our innocence has been lost

If you were so lonely
And your love was true
I wish that you told me
Because I never knew

Battles are won
By those young boys in the sun
And who knows the cost
For our innocence has been lost

See the young mother
Lonely by the phone
Soon she'll discover
That her baby's not home

She'll wait for the call
That seems never to come
And all of us fall
Falling one by one

Battles are won
By those young boys in the sun
And who knows the cost
For our innocence has been lost

Battles are won
By those young boys in the sun
And who knows the cost
For our innocence has been lost

I like the melody, the voice and the guitar very much.

The bass is nice, but sometimes seems to be a little discoordinated from the guitar.

Anyway it's pretty nice!
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Part of the problem is that I'm in Boston, and the bassist is in IL.
Internet recording loses the groove compared to jamming in person.

Here's a non-bass version.

I'd love for Ben to add cello. (Hint, hint  )
Any other comments? Thanks.

Nah, it's never too late.
It's not a contest anymore, so go ahead and make a Never Knew song.

Hey Andy, your song sounds awesome man! Can you tab out that chorus or atleast say what the chord progression is? Great job!
