Need help on Mayer "Why Georgia"

Unread post by mattinbeloit » Mon Mar 27, 2006 12:43 pm

Ok, I just wrote a parody song about one of my friends and his drunken makeout session with some psycho fat chich and used John Mayers "Why Georgia" song and called it "Why Schultzy?" (his last names schultz and we call him schultzy but no matter...). Anyway, I am having trouble playing a certain part of it and I've seen tabs for it but still can't get it so If someone could post a video of them playing it it would really help because I want to record this in the studio tomorrow and I'm pressed for time. The part I need help on is in the beginning of the song where he is picking. I'm good on the first part but when he goes to the C chord and starts pulling on and off (The chord right before he say just stuck inside the gloom), so If someone could just make a quick video of you doing that part kind of slow I would really appreciate it, I don;t really listen to mayer all that much and have not listened to the song alot so I'm having alot of trouble with it for some reason. Anyway, thank you thank you.

If I am thinking of the right part, I just kind of do pull ons and offs on a Bm chord and it's close enough.

it's the same as the tab

if you watch on sessions @ aol mayer plays it like that too...

and on the second part, he holds the first chord [x3243x], hammers onto the D string, goes back to that chord and hammers again, just strumming the whole time.

now czech, don't turn this into a dissertation into my sexual preference or anything pertaining to that general direction of thought  .... No i didn't write it for the football team, I wrote it for my friend who is on the football team and it just so happens the team gives him a hard time about it so I suppose that they will get a kick out of it if they hear it.

This is how I was taught... Probably not how Mayer does it, but it sounds good.
