Does anyone agree with me???

Unread post by dmbguitarist23 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 8:19 am

I was just thinking that dave and the band specifically the last two years seem to have really stepped it up with the energy like the bands sound is alot more heavier and faster alot more yelling and scatting than ever before and at the concerts ive been to alot more dancing............like i remember in 1998 i listened to their concerts and it was understandable why some of my critical friends would call it laid back hippy music but now i think dave and the band really have a heavier and more energetic sound than ever before.......

All that screaming is Dave trying to compensate for the fact that he can't hit the falsetto anymore. And I don't think they are playing with more energy. I've seen them just about every year since 96 and for the first time this past year I was bored at one of their shows. They really cashed it in at Darien Lake.

i actually agree. but part of that might be that i never actually was at a live show in 98, so i dont have first hand experience.

but even over the past 5 years or so that i've seen them, i've noticed that the past couple years the "energy" in terms of loud yelling, screaming, and scatting (all good things) has drastically increased

personally i love it. and i also find myself dancing like crazy these days when i can't see myself doing that to any 98 , 95, etc show. despite the fact that back then, the raw "music" was a bit better

Depends on the venue I think. The energy is always off the charts in Saratoga. But Darien Lake and Hershey are usually a little more low key. The energy they give depends on what the get from the crowd.

Well 2000 is not 2004/2005 which the original poster is referring to so, in that case, you are also disagreeing with the original poster.

2000 is before 2004-2005, is it not?

So yes, he is right.
