Its been awhile...Ben Harper cover inside

Ok, so I love this song. Nobody can do it anywhere near the justice Ben does it, but here's my shot. A few messups here and there, especially with some of the high notes, but oh well. I never claimed to be good at singing.

If youre looking for terribly interesting guitar work, this isnt the song. (Know how I always say simple is often better? I believe this song to be a good example.)

Comments/suggestions welcome...I learned how to play Tripping Billies right a long time ago by posting on this board. I dont get offended.

hey mike! whats poppin man?!?!? dude, I had a big smile on my face listening to this song. picturing you play and sing this song make-a-me-smile. ha...anyway, guitar work sounded great, it didn't sound like a hard tune to play, but you had perfect rhythm and pluckin all the way through...I really like your vocals man...I thought they sounded great with the song. I thought you did just fine on those high notes...A couple spots strayed, but you already mentioned that, thumbs up dude.

haha...that's what friends are for...boosting eachother's egos right? who cares if it's really good or not, just be like "Dude, you are the best, you are amazing"...that way, you can do the same for me.
I don't really have much else to post as far as covers. I did practically every DMB song under the sun within a matter of 2 weeks like half a year ago, ha...and then I found out I wasn't god thanks to you guys...really though, thanks it has helped me for sure....but hey, you'll hear from me soon enough...later mike

First of all, good job on that one, sounds really mellow...
I don't know the original by Ben Harper, so I've no possibility to compare you to him.

I think the guitar playing is very solid, sounds permanently right.
The vocals could have a bit more power, I know it's a mellow song but it wouldn't be bad at all to put some more power in it.
You said you messed up the high notes, but I don't think so. I rather think you hit them pretty well, the problem might be that you didn't hit the following deep note perfectly after doing the high one.
But execpt of that you did very well on this song!

I haven't known Ben Haper well, you've just got me to check out some stuff.

Peace, Bo

You havent heard of Ben Harper?! What?! He's pretty damn cool. Check out his live album, called "Live From Mars." Its a two disc set. The first disc has all of his electric, full band stuff. The second disc is way more mellow...sort of a solo acoustic thing. Its got a lot of great songs on it.

Anyway, thanks for the input. I appreciate it. NOW GO DOWNLOAD SOME BEN HARPER!

I've heard OF ben harper before.. never listened to any of his songs before.. anyway, comments:
Vocals are solid, guitar playing sounds solid throughout the song. even if it is an easy song to play(i dunno, don't know how to play it) as long as you like playing it, doesn't matter then ;)

I sincerely hope DMBfan63, fatjack and borocks are joking.

I have a feeling fatjack is.

sorry...he's freaking awesome. he's the best "pop" slide guitarist ive ever heard.

i say pop meaning to count out like bluegrass bands. i know he isn't pop pop but he's more pop than bluegrass.

Thanks for the comments guys...this song IS really easy to play, but I think the simplicity combined with the lyrics makes it really beautiful. Check out Ben's version...cause his vocals are what really make the song.

And I cant F'n believe you people havent heard Ben Harper before. Dont think all of his songs are like this...the guy can play some mean funk, some good hard electric stuff, and he plays a pretty mean slide. I know I said this, but just to reiterate: I'd highly recommend getting his live album, "Live From Mars." It'll give you a good sampling of what he's all about.
