Help With Acoustic Amp Choice...
Today while at the local guitar store I spotted a Peavey Ecoustic 112 amp. Its on sale for 275$ and it lists on musiciansfriend at 680$. I think I could probably talk them down to 250$. It says that It has three channels. So does that mean I could have a mic and two guitars running in this? What do you guys think about this thing? Good deal?

thanks.
EDIT: Shit this is in the wrong forum, could somebody please move this?

I dont think that i would want my acoustic sound in the hands of peavey. The review even says that you should play a solid body through it. Its also way to big for me (125watts 62lbs? wow) but if thats what youre looking for man it looks like a good price.

Im thinking about trying to trade in my Marhshall Valvestate VS30 amp. Hopefully they will give me a good deal. I figure If i can get this amp for 60$ + my old amp that would be a nice upgrade. I play my acoustic alot more than electric, so I can justify it.
But the thing doesnt have a headphones jack. WTF!

yea I was never a big fan of peavey either, but this thing sounded amazing. I read alot of reviews over at harmony central, and there were alot of people that recomended it. I might take my guitar in tomorrow so I can see how it will respond. Its too much of a bargin to pass up....praisedave wrote:I dont think that i would want my acoustic sound in the hands of peavey. I used to play my $250 acoustic through a Peavey KB/A 50 designed for keyboards, acoustic and/or mic. It has 3 channels, so you can actually play 2 instruments and a mic through it.
It's cool to plug my pc there and use it as a big speaker to play along with my Martin D-35, which is unplugged...
Anyway, that amp you speak about might be different...
I would recommend you try to increase a little bit your budget and go for a Roland AC-60 (I'm actually looking forward to sell my Peavey and buy one of these), or an Ultrasound amp.

I just went through the proccess of buying an acoustic amp. I played my Taylor 314ce through alot of acoustic amps, including 2 peavey's. I ended up buying a Crate Gunnison (2 channels, 60W...). The Peavey amps tone was a little brighter than I liked. The best I played through was an Ultrasound (*Incredible*), I you are a little short on cash I played a Bheringer (you can find it on ebay brand new for like 200-250, 60W) that sounded pritty good, it just had too many effects for me. I am patial mic-ing my acoustic. For me the Crate was the best for price and sound. If you can afford it go for an Ultrasound. Best of luck.

hey thanks everybody for the responces
I know this might not be the best sound that I can get. But the deal is amazing. Im in college right now and i only have about 150$ to my name. Ive been thinking about playing at some bars or small venues like that, and I think this would do the job. I like the fact that It has three channels, so I could have me and another guitar player plug in for a show. Plus my parents have a house in the country and Ive always wanted a amp that I could set up on the back porch and just let it rip... I probably dont need the 100watts, but its neat anyway.
Im going tonight to take another look at it. I will keep this thread updated
thanks again everybody

umm, interesting ideas you have there... im running mine through a 15 watt marshall practice amp, and yes i play that sucker in a full band as part of my churches praise team... are you suggesting that that is better than any acoustic amp i would buy?bam3211 wrote:don't waste your money on acoustic amps, they're a scam. i notice your username is bam and youre in philly... are you bam margera? because taht would explain some things.

No I am not Bam Margera, I do get asked that a lot. The Bam3211 username has been a username of mine for a while so I figured I'd use it for this. I am saying that you should run your acoustic out of your Marshall. I will say some top line acoustic amps do sound good but you probably would not be able to tell much of a difference in the sound of the guitar though the quality might be slightly different. So the bottom line is don't waste your money on an amp you'll be fine. May I also ask what kind of acoustic guitar you play?praisedave wrote:umm, interesting ideas you have there... im running mine through a 15 watt marshall practice amp, and yes i play that sucker in a full band as part of my churches praise team... are you suggesting that that is better than any acoustic amp i would buy?bam3211 wrote:don't waste your money on acoustic amps, they're a scam.
