Did my own version of a song

Unread post by dmb_rulz » Fri Feb 24, 2006 12:54 pm

Hey I did my own version of 41. I just manly did this to work on my vocals a little. Couldnt realy hit the high notes. But if you heard my stay or leave cover I would say I dont sound as monotone. Compared to the other 41 covers I heard in here mine is not worthy of them :) So dont get to upset by my version :) Mine sounds more of like a remix of it. Anyway do as much critiguing as you want. If you havnt heard my monotone sounding stay or leave cover here is the link http://s26.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=10PX ... 5IPUQ9U00Z

Here is the 41 cover i just did

You sound like you're talking more than singing...actually, it kinda reminded me of the band "cake" and that guy has made a fortune! Was it a multi-track recording? You sounded like the singing was catching up to the music sometimes. Anyways, it was cool you were able to add some synthesized instruments in there, nice effort.

the guitar is was too tinny and trebbly, and it sounds like youre using a bad multi effect pedal with an acoustic setting... the synth is not my taste... the vocals are pretty bad ill be honest. you need to start back at the basics vocally, namely, not DMB.

all that being said i always appreciate someone willing to post their stuff.

just listened to it. I'm not a huge fan of the synth. either. I also think the guitar sounded tinny. I dont know if it was an effects pedal or what. Also, I think it would sound better if you made the strumming fuller. As for the voice, it seems like you made too much of an effort to not be monotone. I can't really give you advice on how to get better at singing b/c I am pretty bad at it, so I applaud you for the effort. Your timing for the singing was off at times, and like raif said, you had to play catch-up a lot. The timing will come with practice.

Anyway man, keep up with it. Things will come with practice and you will continute to get better.
