Help on new guitar
i really need to buy a new acoustic, so i went to a local shop here and played some guitars...my budget is about € 1000-1300, so i played some a Taylor 210 and 310CE, some Takamines, a Larrivèe (cant remember the name) and a Tacoma DM13CE.
The Larrivèe was too expensive (1600€), so i'm not considering it anymore.
Both 210 and 310CE sounded pretty good, but i wasnt very impressed.
The DM13CE was a nice surprise: nice balance between basses and trebles...very nice tone. though there isnt any tuner or EQ and its pickup should be replaced (the man told me that w/ a 70-80€ pickup it'll sound well)
I fell in love w/ the Takamine TAN15C w/ cedar top. Nice unplugged sound, maybe not as full as Tacoma's one, but still very good. Very nice basses and great electronics. Plus, the Cool Tube adds much more versatility to the plugged sound and gives me many choices for the settings.
Now i need to choose between the Taka (1150€) and the Tacoma (1200€). Does anyone have any suggestion?
thx in advance

the takamine is one of the cool tube ones, which i think are pristine plugged in, but they sound a little muffled and bogged down acoustic because of ya know the TUBE INSIDE.
Ive read alot about tacoma's but i cant get my hands on one to test here in the states. Ive heard they have a very full dynamic unplugged sound.
I think you need to figure out what youre going to use the guitar most for. if youre on stage more often with a band or you do solo acoustic open mics or coffeehouses im gonna say go Tak. If you play around the house campus appartment w/e or on the boardwalk or under some trees with friends, id say tacoma.

there's no open band/open mic/gig now, but i've never been looking for em b/c i didnt have a guitar to play (i have a folk one)
i was thinking about buying a guitar for the future too, that's why i think the Taka would be better
im hoping my next guitar will be a tak with the cool tube. im planning on starting to open mic on a weekly basis.Sciaracastro wrote:yea that's the main problem.praisedave wrote:the takamine is one of the cool tube ones, which i think are pristine plugged in, but they sound a little muffled and bogged down acoustic because of ya know the TUBE INSIDE.

there are some sites selling it
in dollars: http://www.music123.com/Takamine-TAN15C-i135563.music
http://www.musiciansbuy.com/TAKAMINE_TA ... SE_!!.html
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/home/nav ... 022+500194
http://pcworld.pricegrabber.com/search_ ... id=4798374
http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~nam ... D~3627.asp
the average price is $1529.00 = €1279.18
an italian site:
http://www.scavino.it/chitarre_acustiche.htm
price: €1067.00
as u can see, the price on the net is kinda similar to the one in that shop, maybe i could try off ebay, but i always wanna play a guitar before buying it: even same guitars w/ identic specs can sound different.

i would never buy either of those guitars personally. Have you played any martins? I just think that price ranger I would prefer a martin or larrivee over a tak or tacoma. I never played a tacoma i liked.Sciaracastro wrote:my budget is $1200-1500
in that shop, the taka is $1374.60 and the tacoma $1434.36

there isnt any good martin for that price range and the larrivèes are a bit more expansive.czech wrote:i would never buy either of those guitars personally. Have you played any martins? i could get a taylor 310. i tried it, nice guitar, but i liked the taka more forthe bassier sound. plus, the electronics are better on the taka
anyway, the tacome sounded pretty well

i repeat: i dont feel like buying a guitar off the netczech wrote:its true though. that thing is like having god enter your fingers. i suck at guitar, i grabbed that thing and nothgin i played sounded bad. it was amazing.
and I just saw a perfect one (used) go for $1,499 on ebay.
i asked the man how much was a d-28...€2100 was way too much...a d-35 would be even worse...i'll never have that much money!
