Sunny Friday Blues Jam

Unread post by Tranman66 » Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:09 pm

hey, just a jam i pulled out on a sunny Friday after so much snow

alright, i am still progressing with this blues soloing. the lead is all improvised, and the 2nd half is so much better than the 1st half.

please comment, i need your critiques to improve :P

hey tranny, hows it goin?

this is decent, real good recording quality, the guitar sounds real good. here are my comments:

1) the rhythm track is too intricate and has too many picked notes, should be almost 100% strum imo, that clutters the lead alot less

2) alot of the time i feel like you think you have to improv every beat, which is not the case, the best soloists know when not to play

3) try repeating certain licks for a few beats to give it a little more rhythm, it makes it all the cooler sounding then when you come out of the lick

4) i would say try not to go so quickly from high to low, once you get down to e a and d, chill there for a little while until you kick it back up to g b e

5) incoroporate some slides and more pulls and hammers in there, itll sound more like a guitar and much cooler

6) dont be afraid to solo on two strings at once, like if youre using the blues on G (i think you were) maybe do one a few of these:

Code: Select all

-------
-------
-------
-15/17-
-15/17-
-------

-3/6-
-3/6-
-----
-----
-----
-----

-----
-8\6-
-7\5-
-----
-----
-----
itl make your solos and improvs alot more dynamic

i think thats all i got for ya... keep workin and postin!

edit: now im playing along and this is fun too

Code: Select all

-6p5/7-
-6--/8-
-5--/7-
