i recorded an original i've had laying around for a while. there's a few timing issues but otherwise i'm happy with it..

Yep, it definately has some timing issue. I couldn't hear the click track too well when I was recording so I went off a bit. It's not actually an acoustic. It's a clean electric plugged in direct. As for the overall bass of the song, I think it's fine.
I bought some pretty good transparent monitors a few days ago and the eq sounded pretty good on them.
Unless you're just talking about the rythm guitar, then yes an acoustic would sound more bassy.
