I don't like exliers, too bright and they just have such a harse tone,

D'Addarios are just plain bad. I have used them twice, and both times, I go back to the store the next day and grab a new pair of . . .

The man's got a good point; I ne'er liked elixirs either. I have Dean Markley Sig Series Vintage Bronze and they're damn nice. I may switch over to them from my typical Martin extra lights

well, from store to store, string prices can vary a lot. For three stores here . . .

Good & Loud - $5
Ward-Brodt - $9
Madison Music - $15

This should help, though, with comparing them to martin sp+

Ward-Brodt
DM - $9
MSP+ - $13

They are great, I love them, and the tone lasts for about a month for me, and still sound good for another month.

They sounded the way my regular elixirs sound after Ive had them on after a few weeks, and Ive had them on for like a month now so they really sound like shit.
That's it, I'm starting a D'addario thread.
good, and you?

well the phosper bronze are slicker than regular bronze and than the coated ones are obviously slicker than the phosphor bronze. I just find Elixirs too slippery and although they're nice and bright for awhile, once that brightness starts to dull out, there's no over-tones to hold up the sound. that makes as much sense as peanut butter pie but it is hard to explain what sounds a certain way. and I know it depends on the guitar too.. oh well, I love D'addario strings.

I'm with you...D'addarios are the shit. I put a set of elixers on my guitar just to give them a fair chance. I admit, I liked them. Until my g string broke yesterday and I put some D's back on.

If you think coated strings tone is as good as non coated, you dont have an ear. :!:

How bout that?

Well, for those of you who like Elixers, I have a great site that sells 3 sets of acoustic Polywebs for $31.49, and they used to include free shipping in that, but I'm not sure if they do or not now (I haven't ordered from them for a while). But anyways, $31.49 is a good deal as far as I'm concerned...if anyone comes across any better deals, let me know!

Oh yeah, they now carry Elixer 12-string sets (by my request). They have the NanoWeb light and heavy at $19.09 each...good deal for a set for the 12-string...

Just bought set of D'addarios EXP EJ 16 lights for 5.99 with a pack of coated for free. With shipping it costs about $12

Not let's see what all of this hoopla is about in two days...

EDIT: Is there an EJ in that? I forgot what they were called
