Please tell me Im not blind

Unread post by phatnev » Mon Oct 13, 2003 5:24 pm

Im looking for one electric, I wanna spend roughly a grand or so. I've been looking at tons of Les Pauls and I love the look of the Double Cuts but they cost about $1500 but I found one that is listed at $599 sale price. Check this link out and see if there is any reason for $800 dollars missing from the price tag :) Any help would be appreciated. The other LP's I'm looking at are LP Studios.

I dont know what the difference it but apparently your looking at a lower end model, the more expensive ones are on that link too. Compare them and see what your missing out on with the cheap one.

Between those guitars, electronics, finish, tuning gears, inlays, there are a few other differences too....

you're also looking at an epiphone. remember that. while they are nice in their own right (i own one), they aren't Gibsons...but you can make them almost as good.

the LP Specials are flat all mahogany, they don't have the maple top. hence the huge price cut.

if you are into Gibsons, look at Heritage Guitars too. they are handmade in the original Gibson Factory. they split from gibson when Gibson moved their factory. they make pretty much the same stuff, only it's handmade.

yeah, i believe the story of heritage is that they couldnt use that shop anymore (in kalimazoo i believe?) so they sold it and the workers bought it back. they continued to make almost identical guitars even down to the pickups. only thing that changed much was the name on the headstock.
